Kit Build #2 - Reborns Gundam - Part 3

The legs of this kit was designed wonderfully. The clever use if simple pieces were all that was needed to facilitate the forward and backward bending of the knees the change from Gundam mode to Cannon mode present. Parts separation was straight forward and simple enough allowing it to be put together even without checking the manual.

The mechanism for the moving knee armor is impressive and one would wonder why Bandai can't apply it to all its 1/144 kits. This boils down to the mecha design and how it would translate into the model kit's form and how much it would affect the cost of implementing the gimmick.

Legs Assembled

The grey joint-parts were left unpainted, only panel-lined. Panel-lining was done using the wonderful magic of black enamel aided by a black Gundam Marker Pen. Building the legs was much easier than the arms since there were a decent mount of gap between the sliding pieces and required no extra sanding to allow the joint to move without scratching the new paint job.

My First Bootleg Gunpla

This is the first imitation gunpla I've ever bought. Its made by Dragon Momoko which is for all I know a Taiwan-based group. I came across this kit while browsing the local Taiwan mimics of eBay for gunpla bargains or kits not found in stores.

I never really touched a Gundam Wing kit before except building my little sister's MG Wing Zero Custom she wanted for her birthday (it was the wings that got her attention for all of one week). I don't plan on fully putting this kit together, since I bought it for its parts.

The quality of the plastic used is nearly identical to that used by Bandai. Of course, being made from a recast of an original kit, the natural defects become more exaggerated giving this kit a weird not-too-smooth surface.
The manual is quite detailed and well-made, most likely actually copied from the authentic Bandai-issued manual.

After inspecting the pieces of this kit, I think I'll keep an eye out for more Dragon Momoko copies for my future kit cannibalizing needs.
