Masking Hell

 

Lazy man's masking.

Painstakingly cut tiny strips to surround the areas I intend to paint and once done, I generously apply cheap-o masking tape to the rest of the piece. Then I brush on some liquid masking sol to cover any tiny spots I might have missed.

Will be applying the surfacer tomorrow morning.

Upper Leg

Applied enamel wash on those tiny little pieces that cover the hole opposite the opening for the groin ball-joint. Waiting for the lower leg to be spray painted.

Body

 

 

 

 Painted the collar gray, even though with the head on it won't be too visible. Applied panel lines using a gray marker pen. The gray color doesn't completely conceal the original color, giving the parts a "dirty" appearance.

Also made a slight mod with the backpack. This mod allows me to attach the shield/guitar case on its back for some future posing.

Waist

 

 Again here is another piece similar to the arms, its all white. Applied some panel lining but to give it some more variance, I decided to apply a bit of blue paint to the front skirt armor.

Quick update before my 3-day leave is over.

Arms

The arms were too white to look at so I subjected myself to a few hours of masking hell to colorize the plain white arms.

FOUND ONE!!!

Went out today looking for a color to spray on the beam saber and returned with these:

Wow. Finally found the core booster kit for the V Gundam MG. I don't own one though. I'm just interested in the weapons that come with this kit. And I thought that it would be cool to have a Gundam display that isn't a humanoid robot for a change.

The spray can in front of the kit is a Tamiya "Candy Lime Green" can for the beam saber.

Kit Build #1 Extreme Gundam - Part 1

Starting off this kit with a look at the easiest pieces to build.

Beam Rifle (Guitar)

Simple to put together. Just put the smaller parts between the large rifle pieces and press together. No other color on this gun except gray. Strangely, I decided to use a gray Gundam Marker Pen so as not to make the panel lining stand out too much.

Shield (Guitar Case)

Fewer pieces compared to the gun despite being larger. Panel lined the grooves in the handle and some of the details in the shield. Masking was pretty easy so I spray painted the "islands" on the outside of the shield white.

Beam Saber

Pretty much the only part that does not require assembly. Unfortunately the whole piece was molded in blue so painting the whole thing is pretty much the only option. Already painted the handle white when I took this photo, but I'm still stuck on what color to use on the blade. I'm thinking of using candy red for it.

This will be my first attempt at making a blog about my greatest passion, GUNPLA!!!
